Encaustic Art by Arati
Encaustic Art
It is a technique of painting where a heat source (like an iron, stylus, hotplate etc.) is used to melt blocks of pigmented wax, which are used as paints. The art form dates back to ancient Greece, where beeswax was used to produce stunning effects. Coloured pigments were added to molten wax, which was then applied to the surface. Once applied to the surface, the paint does not need to dry. Instead, it needs to cool after which layers can be added, providing a permanent finish
